Children Can Learn English in an Engaging Way!

The team of NGO “Unique Country” has launched a new project aimed at improving the English language skills of children affected by the war.

For us, it is important that learning is not only useful, but also lively, engaging and supportive. Children who have experienced forced changes, displacement or other consequences of the war need not only new knowledge, but also a safe space where they can communicate, try, make mistakes and gradually become more confident.

The first English club sessions

Today, the wonderful Viktoriia Kuka held the first English club sessions for children.

If we were asked to describe this event in just a few words, we would say: this is not school. It was light, fun and very genuine. The children engaged in the tasks, tried speaking English, responded to one another and gradually became braver.

A particularly joyful moment was when even a boy who had previously said he did not know English started speaking it. For us, this is a small but very important result: when a child feels safe and interested, they gain more courage to try.

Why this matters

The English club is not only about language. It is also about developing confidence, communication, interest in learning and the feeling that something new can be accessible and exciting.

Through such sessions, children have the opportunity to learn in a friendly atmosphere, expand their knowledge, interact with peers and feel the support of adults who are there for them.

Special thanks to the Zhmerynka Public Library, which warmly hosted the English club while we are completing the renovation of a room in our office.

We are glad that, together with our partners, we can create spaces for children where learning is combined with support, trust and a lively interest in the world.
