Building Partnerships to Restore the Community

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the team of NGO “Unique Country” has been supporting internally displaced persons and other people affected by the war.

During the first two years, our priority was emergency response to people’s basic needs. We provided humanitarian assistance: food packages, hot meals, hygiene items, essential household goods, as well as items and supplies that helped people get through the cold season.

At the same time, the team worked to provide psychosocial and legal support, because people who have experienced the loss of their home, forced displacement or other consequences of the war often need more than material items — they also need information, guidance, a safe space and the feeling that they are not left alone with their difficulties.

A new challenge — economic resilience for people and the community

Today, communities are facing new challenges. Many businesses — both large and small — are reducing or stopping their activities. This makes it harder to find work and creates additional financial pressure for families.

At the same time, many internally displaced people live in communities and need to find new sources of income, provide for their families, settle into a new place and gradually regain a sense of stability.

That is why it is important for NGO “Unique Country” to move from emergency assistance toward supporting people’s long-term capacity. This means knowledge, resources, professional support and opportunities that help people not only survive the crisis, but also gradually build their future in the community.

What we are focusing on

We have decided to focus part of our work on supporting internally displaced persons living in the Zhmerynka community, as well as local residents who need new opportunities for professional and economic development.

This includes support in gaining knowledge and resources for:

• starting their own business;
• learning a new profession;
• finding new sources of income;
• improving the financial situation of families;
• strengthening the economic resilience of the community.

For us, it is important that this support is practical, clear and connected to people’s real needs and the opportunities available in the local environment.

Partnership with the Employment Centre

Understanding the complexity of this task, NGO “Unique Country” continues to build partnerships with organizations and institutions that can strengthen support for people in the community.

Today, we formalized our intentions for cooperation by signing a memorandum with the Zhmerynka Branch of the Vinnytsia Regional Employment Centre.

This partnership is an important step in combining the efforts of the civil society sector and the public employment service. Such cooperation can help better inform people about opportunities for training, employment, professional reorientation and the development of their own business.

We are convinced that community recovery is impossible without supporting the people who live in it. When people have access to knowledge, resources and professional guidance, they gain more opportunities for independence, stability and participation in the development of their environment.

We are joining efforts to strengthen the financial stability of the community and support people affected by the war.

NGO “Unique Country” continues to work so that people have more opportunities to develop themselves and the communities in which they live.
